California 1900

October 21, 1999 -- February 19, 2000

 

The California Historical Society is presenting a review of "turn-of-the-century art, artifacts, and photographs" from California in an exhibition thoroughly documented in its three-part online presentation, including many illustrations The over 100 objects for California 1900 were borrowed from historical societies and museums in counties throughout the state.

Funding for the exhibition was provided in part by the Chronicle Publishing Company. The Society's ongoing exhibition program is supported by Dr. A. Jess Shenson, the Louise M. Davies Foundation, the Bernard Osher Foundation, the L. J. and Mary C. Skaggs Foundation, and Grants for the Arts/San Francisco Hotel Tax Fund. For prior exhibitions, "The San Francisco Art Association ~~ 1871 - 1906," "James Madison Alden ~~ Watercolors & Drawings," and "Direct From Nature ~~ The Oil Sketches of Thomas Hill" the CHS created thorough presentations for Internet viewers.
