Visible Fragments: The Works of Louise Kames
"Visible Fragments: The Works of Louise Kames" opened at the
Blanden Memorial Art Museum on January 28, 2000 and will remain on display
until March 26, 2000. Ms. Kames was awarded the solo exhibition when she
won first place in the Blanden's 1998 "Personal Sightings III"
exhibition of work by regional artists. She is an Associate Professor of
Art at Clarke College in Dubuque and a member of the BVM Religious Order
of the Catholic Church. (left: Traid, 1997, pastel, 30 x 23
inches)
Ms. Kames' images tell of a personal journey to find meaning in what many would call the ordinary; and take the form of mixed media installations, pastels and charcoal drawings. Ms. Kames' work has been featured in numerous solo and juried exhibitions both nationally and internationally; and her installation, "Elegy for Ellen," won best of show in the Des Moines Art Center's 1996 Iowa Artists exhibition.
