Real to Surreal
November 12, 1999 - February 12, 2000
The Museum of Contemporary Art /Denver is pleased to announce an
exciting exhibition of regional and national realist and surrealist paintings
and sculpture. Stepping from MOCA/D's previous exhibition of experimental
conceptual
installations,
Real to Surreal embraces contemporary painters that use traditional
techniques in painting and sculpture with realism as a starting point then
crossing into fantasy and the surreal. In this age of instant process and
gratification, attention spans seem short. (left: Matt O'Neil, Primer

The lore of skilled craftsmanship seems more difficult
to locate as we speed into a new century.
Work was chosen from both the east and west coasts
and brought together with the Colorado region's best talent. Each of these
twenty-three artists share in kindred spirit their own unique personal vision
combined with an extraordinary literal talent. This exhibition is a toast
to the last turn of the century, and a toast to craft, skill, and unique
visions being carried into the next century. (right: list of exhibition
