Deborah Paswaters: Realm-Millennium

On the heels of the Marc Chagall Exhibition, the best-attended show
for the Las Vegas Art Museum to date, the museum is hosting the first one-person
showing for Los Angeles contemporary artist Deborah Paswaters, entitled
Realm-Millennium. The artist, whose style is considered abstract-figurative,
employs all the developments of abstract artists like Mark Rothko and Willem
De Kooning, as well as reincorporating imagery as in the later work of Jasper
Johns, according to Las Vegas Art Museum Curator James Mann. (left:

The exhibition has been culled from numerous collections
across the world as well as new paintings and sculpture specifically created
for this event. The artist has created an installation piece specifically
for the museum, which will incorporate sound and different sight sensations
in the side gallery. The Paswaters exhibition will begin with an opening
reception on November 18 and will be the featured exhibition until January
2, 2000.
To celebrate this significant milestone in her career,
Paswaters has invited the Las Vegas 
affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation to share
in this event along with singer/actress and breast cancer survivor Olivia
Newton-John. To assist the organization with breast cancer awareness and
fund-raising efforts, Paswaters has collaborated on a limited-edition poster
with Newton-John that will be available during the event. The theme of the
poster is "Art Is for Life," a painting created specifically by
Paswaters to be sold the duration of the exhibit with all proceeds benefiting
the Las Vegas affiliate of the Komen Foundation. (right: Art is
