The Art of Ed Posa
Local artist Ed Posa is renowned for his striking
visions of Native Americans. With watercolor and gouache, he offers striking
visions with bright colors, sweeping brush strokes and a modern point of
view in his exhibition, The Art of Ed Posa, on display in the Regional Gallery
at the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center through Feb. 3, 2001. (left:

In his unique style, Posa blends traditional Old World Southwestern themes with contemporary colors and dramatic impressionistic concepts. His mystical Indians and skies have become a trademark and are seen in many of his works.
An
East Coast native, Posa came west on a University of Wyoming athletic scholarship
and stayed. He spent over 28 years as a distinguished special education
teacher and football coach before choosing to pursue art on a full-time

His artistic reputation continues to increase with each passing year. He is represented by over 25 galleries spanning all of North America, has been featured in numerous publications and is included in many prestigious collections.
In describing the meaning of one of his paintings, Posa said "we must know and understand our past before we can realize a meaningful future. The American Indian sees things as they are, and gains courage and wisdom from remembering his roots."
