"Landscapes from the Permanent Collection" on display at the Hearst Center

 

The Hearst Center for the Arts, 304 West Seerley Blvd., Cedar Falls, will display "Landscapes from the Permanent Collection" July 31 ­ October 12, 2003 in the Dresser-Robinson Gallery.

Artists have been recording and interpreting the land around them since before the Renaissance. The Hearst Permanent Collection has many strong works in this rich tradition of landscape painting that will be featured in this exhibit.

This show will include works by artists such as John Page, Roger Bartlett, Alma Held, and Marjorie Nuhn. (right: Roger Bartlett, Earth and Stream #10, watercolor, colored pencil, oil pastel on paper, 99.01.00, Gift from Artist)

Anotheer exhibition, Wind and Water: Iowa's Evolving Landscape will debut September 21 and run through November 16, 2003. Wind and water are two natural forces that have shaped Iowa and continue to contribute to major modifications in the land. This exhibition is a look at Iowa through artists' interpretations of the landscape and how it is molded and shaped by winds and water.
