Recovery Matrix Scoring
System
TFAO's motives for development of the Recovery Matrix Scoring
System (RMSS) are twofold:
-
- 1. promote husbanding of human and financial resources
related to benefits to TFAO-dl patrons and the risk of other sources duplicating
the efforts of TFAO in the near to medium time frame.
-
- 2. exploit the capabilities of Distinguished
Artists catalogue, Resource Library Search
and Google search to develop RMSS scores.
-
RMSS matrix box: column and row values: high, medium, low
- Columns = relevance to TFAO-dl
-
- Rows = probability of permissions
-
Relevance ratings
(column top to bottom):
- Top of column: minimal level of scholarship in TFAO-dl
or referenced externally in web-published articles in TFAO's Distinguished
Artists and Articles and Essays Online
catalogues
-
- Middle of column: moderate level of scholarship in TFAO-dl
or referenced externally in web-published articles in TFAO's Distinguished
Artists and Articles and Essays Online
catalogues
-
- Bottom of column: substantial level of scholarship in
TFAO-dl or referenced externally in web-published articles in TFAO's Distinguished Artists and Articles and Essays Online catalogues, or article
not focused on American representational art. Also, article may be too
brief for republishing. TFAO seeks articles and essay containing more than
600 words.
-
Note: TFAO also conducts a Google
Books and Google
advanced search as needed with keywords relevant to the American
Art Review article to discover and review external links that are not
yet TFAO-referenced external links in TFAO's catalogues to further determine
the relevance rating for the recovery matrix score
Probability
ratings (rows left to right):
- Left row: scholarship possibly owned by independent author,
employee of smaller institution or the institution, private art gallery,
or author previously published by TFAO
-
- Middle row: scholarship possibly owned by employee of
medium-size institution or the institution, professor at a university,
or private art gallery.
-
- Right row: scholarship possibly owned by commercial press,
employee of large-size institution or the institution, or private art gallery;
author might be difficult to locate.
-
Score example: a RMSS composite score of <1> indicates high relevance
and high permissions possibility.
How ratings are used
Scores of 1, 2,
4 and 5 indicate information desirable for the
TFAO digital library and heightened probability of reprinting. Texts with
these favorable scores are available to contractors for reprinting.
Scores of 3, 6,
7, 8 and 9 indicate substantial information already
available in the TFAO digital library or through external links, or low
probability of reprinting. Texts with these unfavorable scores are not pursued
for reprinting.
Ratings are performed by the director and placed on an
online worksheet form.
