The Hillstrom Museum of Art is pleased to present the fourteen
works on view in this exhibition, which is being shown concurrently with
The Art Students League of New York: Highlights from the Permanent Collection.
Many of the works in the Hillstrom Collection are by artists who studied
or taught at the Art Students League, and these selections highlight that
connection. Most of the paintings, drawings and prints on view are by League
instructors, and there are also works by League students who went on to
prominent careers. Many of the works were donated by Museum namesake Reverend
Richard L. Hillstrom, and there are several recent donations from Dr. David
and Kathryn Gilbertson as well. We are grateful to all donors who help make
acquisitions possible, and we invite any person interested in becoming a
donor to contact the Museum.
