Public programs
The Corcoran Gallery of Art presents a comprehensive schedule
of exhibition-related programs for all ages in connection with The American
Evolution: A History through Art. Public programming includes, but is
not limited to, the following:

- AMERICAN ART MINI-CAMP
- Tuesday-Thursday, March 18-20 and March 25-27, 9 a.m.-3
p.m.
- Inspired by the exhibition The American Evolution:
A History through Art, the Corcoran College of Art + Design presents
American Art Mini-Camp, a three-day program for ages 513, during the
weeks that area schools are on break. Students will learn about the artists
and themes featured in the exhibition and then engage in hands-on art activities

- CORCORAN CAMPFIRE FAMILY WEEKEND
- Saturday-Sunday, April 56, 12 p.m.-4 p.m.
- Yee Haw! Gather 'round the Corcoran Campfire for tales
from the Wild, Wild West! We mosey through the Corcoran's exhibition, The
American Evolution: A History through Art, looking for images of the
American West with a true cowboy who knows a thing or two about spurs,
lassos and Albert Bierstadt's The Last of the Buffalo. Campfire roundups
start at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Complimentary with Gallery
admission.

- ALL-AMERICAN ROADTRIP FAMILY WEEKEND
- Saturday-Sunday, May 3-4, 12 noon-4 p.m.
- Before you hit ROUTE 1869, pick up a map with directions
and activities for a memorable road trip across the U.S.A. Make sure to
pull over for views of the American landscape, from Frederic Edwin Church's
Niagara to Eadweard Muybridge's Valley of the Yosemite from Mosquito Camp.
Remember to take a pit stop at the Café and refuel with a classic
PBJ, Grilled Cheese Sandwich, or Mac & Cheese. Complimentary with Gallery
admission, Children's menu offered in the Café des Artistes.

- STRETCH YOUR IMAGINATION
- Family Program (Ages 6-12)
- Sunday, June 22, 2-4 p.m.
- Yoga meets art: we'll twist like Alexander Calder's Calderberry,
flow like Helen Frankenthaler's Hurricane Flag, and zig-zag like
Arthur Garfield Dove's Space Divided by Line Motive (U.S.A.). Whether
you're a kid guru or yoga newbie, join us for an afternoon that will move
your body to the rhythm of abstraction. Complimentary with Gallery admission,
pre-registration required.

- Thursday, March 6, 7 p.m.
- On this toe-tapping night of American music, this popular
and critically acclaimed group performs songs from our nation's history,
inspired by works in the Corcoran's exhibition, The American Evolution:
A History through Art. Fee.

- Best Cellars Presents an American Tour of Wine
- Wednesday, March 26, 7 p.m.
- Enjoy a variety of American wines paired with award-winning
farmstead cheeses artfully presented in the Corcoran's famed Atrium by
the experts at Best Cellars. Fee.

- Perspectives Gallery Talks

- The Corcoran Collects
- Thursday, March 27, 6:30 p.m.
- Join former Corcoran archivist Marisa Bourgoin on a history-filled
tour through the Corcoran's renowned American collection as she shares
historical tidbits and little known information about this historic museum
and its collection.

- Curator's Choice Series
- Thursdays, April 10, May 15, June 19, 6:30 p.m.
- Join the curators of The American Evolution: A History
through Art, Sarah Cash, Emily Shapiro, and Sarah Newman, for a series
of gallery talks on works of particular interest, selected by the curators
themselves.

- Exhibition Highlights Tours
- Discover the Corcoran Gallery of Art with the help of
our trained docents. Offered MondaySunday at 12 p.m. and on Thursdays
at 7 p.m., Highlights Tours provide a broad overview of The American Evolution:
A History through Art. Tours last approximately one hour and are complimentary
with admission.
