Faculty Exhibition at Boston University
School for the Arts
An exhibition of work by artists who
teach in the Visual Arts Division of the Boston University School for the
Arts opens at the Boston University Art Gallery on Friday, September 17
and continues through Sunday, October 24, 1999.
The
exhibition features a diverse and distinguished group of artists working
in a 
variety
of media. Exhibiting artists include painters John Walker, Harold Reddicliffe,
Richard Raiselis, Peter Hoss, Hugh O'Donnell, Stephanie Kay, Sam Lacombe,
Stuart Baron, Gunta Kaza, Alfred Leslie, Nadine Zanow, and Margaret McCann;
sculptors Carol Keller, Nick Edmonds, Ed Smith, Ed Gerwe, Isabel McIlvain,
and Katharine Wales; printmakers Deborah Cornell and Sid Hurwitz; photographers
Ulrich Mack and Stephen Frank; art educator Janet Olson; and graphic artists
Laura Giannitrapani, Alston Purvis and Richard Doubleday.
The
Visual Arts Division of Boston University's School for the Arts offers a
classically structured educational experience based on intensive studio
training in drawing, painting, sculpture, and two - and three - dimensional
design. The program emphasizes visual education, technical skill, and aesthetic
understanding - the cornerstones of art that make persuasive self expression
possible. Artist alumni include sculptor Julia Shepley, and painters Robert
Guillemin (Sidewalk Sam), Jon Imber, Brice Marden, and Richard Yarde.
