Our Nation's Colors: A Celebration of American Painting -- Selections from the Wichita Art Museum
January 30 to March 28. 1999
Our Nation's Colors presents 75 masterworks of American painting from the holdings
of the Wichita Art Museum, a stellar collection on tour for the first time.
Spanning the years 1874 to 1960, the selection represents
a visual history of the distinctive American character that artists found
in landscapes, urban and regional scenes, portraits, and visionary imagery.
Included are some of the best known artists of the time,
such as Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, Mary Cassatt, Stuart Davis, Georgia
O'Keeffe, Robert Henri, Jacob Lawrence, Reginald Marsh, John Sloan, and
Mark Tobey.
Organized by the Wichita Art Museum in association with The American Federation of Arts. The Tacoma Art Museum is the exclusive Western venue of a national tour. Tickets available in person at TAM or through all Ticketmaster outlets.
