Creating a Reduction Woodblock Print

THE SIXTH COLOR RUN A third block, the Accent Block, is carved to print secondary or accent colors in the composition (fig 3-1, above left). At this point, very little of the block is left in relief after carving. The block was proofed for registration and then printed over the previous runs (fig 3-1a, above right).

THE SEVENTH BLOCK A second cut is made to the Accent Block, leaving even less of a relief printing surface (fig 3-2, above left). Once again, the block was proofed for registration and then printed over the previous runs (fig 3-2a, above right).
