Included in the American section is a large collection of portraits in miniature. These depict famous American figures including past Presidents, signers ofthe Declaration of Independence, and American artists. Featured are portraits of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, Stonewall Jackson, Benjamin Franklin, and Sam Houston. Painted in watercolor on very thin ivory, the miniature collection is displayed throughout the American Galleries in glass cases.
