Raymond's Portrait: the Life and Art of Raymond Hu is a half-hour documentary that profiles the life and art of 19-year-old artist Raymond Hu. The documentary traces the personal and artistic development of this unique painter, including his difficult but ultimately rewarding experience as one of the first full-inclusion students at San Ramon Valley High School. Raymond's perspective on the challenges of growing up with Down syndrome provides a context for the powerful emotional impact of his haunting animal portraits. Through interviews with Raymond, his family, and his art teacher Lampo Leong, as well as depiction of his daily activities at school and at leisure, Raymond's sensitivity, humor, and fierce passion for life emerge on screen. Raymond's Portrait introduces us to a remarkable young man. Produced by award-winning TV producer Donald Young, the documentary was first aired on KCSM-TV60, San Mateo, Calif. on May 28, 1997. It was very well received in the San Francisco bay area and may be released nationally. The documentary has won the CINE Golden Eagle Award, the Bronze Apple from the National Educational Media Network, and First Place in Television Programming from the Peninsula Press Club. Red Grooms and "Fat Feet" is available through the Sullivan Video Library at The Speed Art Museum which holds a sizable collection of art-related videos available to educators at no charge. Red Grooms, painter, pop multi-media artist and filmmaker, talks about his new films and art work. Two films, "Washington's wig whammed" and "Fat feet" are included. The first film is an animated joke about sending a letter. Washington, pictured on the stamp, is cancelled and flips his wig. The second film "Fat feet," combining animation with live films, is a pop art view of life in the big city complete with firefighting episode and various street scenes. Red Grooms Talks about Dali Salad is available through the Sullivan Video Library at The Speed Art Museum which holds a sizable collection of art-related videos available to educators at no charge.. As a Pop artist, Red Grooms has always been fascinated with the ordinary and the everyday. In the artwork Dali Salad, he used paper, vinyl, aluminum, wood, steel, plastic, and even Ping-Pong balls to create a lively and humorous portrait of Salvador Dali, a Surrealist painter whom Grooms describes as having "both exploited and been exploited in the print field. Rauschenberg recalls the valuable contacts he made at Black Mountain College, particularly with choreographer Merce Cunningham and composer John Cage, who both had a decisive influence on his thinking....Rauschenberg's active involvement with life carries over into his painting. The combine-painting of the 1950s integrated two- and three-dimensional elements and inhabited both wall and floor space. In their prime, Hopper retreated to Cape Cod to paint, Rockwell Kent ventured out into the far north and Tierra del Fuego as an artist, writer, and adventurer. Rockwell Kent also had a disappointing ability to control his conduct in his personal life, which Lewis was circumspect in covering in deference to the requests of Kent family. Romare Bearden: Visual Jazz Reveals
the work of American artist Romare Bearden (1914--1988) as he creates a
collage and describes 
his approach:
first, creating abstract relations of form and color, then adding specific
imagery to produce feeling. Musician Wynton Marsalis compares the way Bearden
translated experience to the jazz musician's technique of improvisation.
Although Bearden loved music, there were many other influences on his art
which showed a combination of rural and urban experiences and which employed

master Roy Uchtenstein. Starting from a collection of brushstrokes created
for collages, Lichtenstein selects images, makes models and works with architects
and other artists to create a unique "brushstroke sculpture" in
Tokyo. "This video offers comprehensive documentation on a major public
sculpture by the Pop master, Roy Lichtenstein. Just as he drew inspiration
from cartoons and advertising to produce some of the most indelible images
in contemporary painting, Lichtenstein became intrigued by a brushstroke
